The Never Fail Backwrap

Back wearing has never been so easy!

Birth of the NeverFail Backwrap

The Birth of the NeverFail Backwrap

I am the happy designer of the NeverFail Backwrap. It was born out of necessity with my fourth child. I hear of mothers complaining that they are not good wrappers with a regular woven wrap because they can't get the back carries right. I have found that it is not always the baby wearer who is making this difficult, it is the wiggle child. I needed my fourth child to expand my horizon and create a new product that would help us both enjoy baby wearing. My three older children are observers and sit still in a wrap. My fourth learns through action, a wrap doesn't stop his personality. I am an expert wrapper, I have wrapped babies for decades, longer than most likely any U.S. retailer of baby wraps and yet my 18 months old knows all the tricks of "getting out" of the wrap. The only back carry that works for him securely is the wiggle back carry. I know this carry very well. It was also created in my living room out of necessity. (My instructions have been copied by some off a DVD we produced and put on the Web).  With this child getting heavier and the weather getting warmer in the Summer of 2005, I found I didn't like the double layers of fabric and went on to create a new wrap that would allow me to utilize the Rucksack carry.

Problems with the Back Wrap  Cross Carry

The back wrap cross carry , because it is starts under the babywearer's armpits, rides too low to keep a wiggle baby in securely. There is no way of adjusting the fabric after it is wrapped, even  knowing Yoga won't help in reaching way back to pull up the fabric. My son learned quickly how to raise both arms and press down on all layers of fabric to create room enough for him to lean out and hold on to anything close enough for him to reach, pulling himself just about out of the wrap. I  know some moms don't think this is possible and  consequently believe I am trying to put down regular wraps. To them I say, you do not have a wiggle child or you could relate. Maybe your next baby will help you expand your horizon into the wiggle baby world. No back carry will keep a wiggler in securely (except the wiggle back carry), no matter how tight you tie it or how well you spread it and get the arms tucked in and so on, unless you have another adult with you helping you fix the wrap every few minutes you are going to be frustrated with wrapping baby on your back.  Having a baby lean backwards also automatically makes the babywearer lean forward to keep the balance, which is not only uncomfortable after a while, it can also lead to back problems.

I have received numerous e-mails from mothers who finally feel understood. It is not the loose wrapping, it is the wiggle child that makes it unsafe. Here are just a couple of customer comments from the past couple of days.

"We have had the same problem that I saw in the pictures of wiggly baby coming out of wrap so I am excited about that."

"I'm really excited to get these wraps because my ds  is a leaner and I have a hard time wrapping him, which is why I  haven't bought a wrap.  I use mei tais all the time, but this wrap  sounds like it will be perfect!

"I was just blending up her kale and she is climbing up my back trying to see what's going on!"

My little one climbing up my back. A regular wrap would be out from under his bottom and on his way down he'd be falling right out of it.

Problems with the Rucksack carry

The Rucksack carry also became unsafe for my fourth child because he likes to dig his little feet into my hip and walk up my back to look over my shoulder. When he comes down again into the sling, the bottom is loose because he pulled it up as he was going up, and the fabric slides over his back. I constantly have to check, retie, tuck, pull, etc. to keep him on my back. He likes being on my back, he just wants to be involved in everything I do while he is with me. I know bum popping is a problem for many baby wearer because I have been giving advice on it for many years, longer than any chat groups on this topic have been around in the U.S. To show you I am known as an expert wrapper in chatgroups, whenever a discussion would hit a dead end, I end up with 2-3 emails (often giving me the link to the forum) asking for my advice which I gladly give.Especially in the beginning of chatgroups dead ends and numerous questions in my email account were frequent. I can then find "my answers" in  the forum only it is not posted under my name and rarely is my name mentioned. I am glad to say with my decades of experience in baby wearing I have always been able to give good helpful advise, regardless if it is done under my name or not. I  know that chat groups can be fun to participate in for some, however, they do not have all the answers.  Woven wraps haven't been around here for as long as I have been around them.

Other back wearing carriers and some of their problems

The NeverFail Backwrap was born out of the struggles I had to wear my son safely. I checked out other carriers but found them not adjustable enough, some seemed to have room on either side for a baby to slide out, the shoulder straps were too narrow and/or  riding to close to my neck giving me a headache, the back was too low on a lot of them creating the same problem I had with the back wrap cross carry with wraps, they were not adjustable for when my son went to sleep on my back resulting in his head popping around, there is no way to adjust any of them exactly for the individual needs of you and your baby forcing the one size fits all on us,  they were often unsafe on the bottom and only supported by one shoulder, making moving in a natural manner around the house and outside virtually  impossible, buckels and belts were burdensome and caused pressure points,  the anatomically correct leg position is often compromised in the harness type carriers,  and so on. The list, why I didn't like any of the other back carriers on the market, is quite long.  I just wanted a back carrier that would give me the comfort of the wrap but the security of a harness type carrier.

Advantages of the Never Fail Backwrap

I knew I, along with thousands of baby wearers with wiggle babies, needed something more secure and most comfortable for hours of baby wearing enjoyment.  I changed the design several times within the past year. Some of our friends and customers tried the prototype wraps I had made and we made changes until it was perfect. The way the leg loops are designed, they  will pull the bottom rail  under baby's bum and keep the bottom rail from ever slipping out. There will never be a bum popping in a Never Fail. The baby's legs will automatically be in the anatomically correct leg position at all times.  Because of the wide shoulder straps and the ease of adjusting it with the perfect fit for you and your baby, the NeverFail Backwrap is also the most comfortable baby carrier on the market. The NeverFail Backwrap holds your baby securely because the top rail of the fabric goes all the way up to your baby's shoulders, no leaning possible. If your baby manages to lean, you can reach the top rail on your shoulder and pull it up and draw him closer to your shoulders, tugging it in again under your shoulder strap.   No more re-tying every time baby moves. This also works when baby takes a nap on your back, you can easily secure the head and neck to your body in the Never Fail Backwrap, making it a comfortable place to rest for your baby.  The fabric is soft and moves with the baby, embracing your baby no matter how baby shifts on your back. The woven  fabric also allows for airflow, making it a great choice for the Summer in any climate. Because it is made of organic fabric, your baby can safely nibble on it, or like my son, bite into it. It is also quite simple to move the Never Fail Backwrap from the back to the front or vise versa, allowing you to nurse or comfort your baby quickly and also move him out of harms way (when cooking for example). You can be on the move with the Never Fail Backwrap, hiking, doing laundry,  sledding, moping floors, skiing, folding laundry, walking, doing dishes,  picking siblings up from school, and the list goes on. No need to slow down your active life, just lift baby on your back  in the Never Fail Backwrap and off you go.   The Never Fail Backwrap is by far the most comfortable and secure back carrier for babies, toddlers, and parents alike.

No wiggle baby? No problem

If your baby doesn't wiggle but you are still not really sure about carrying your baby on your back, the Never Fail will give you confidence as it is very forgiving. With a regular wrap, in order to be secure, one has to practice and  know how to securely tie it. This is not impossible to learn, however, the back carries are the most scary and hardest carries to learn. I know because many years ago I too learned them and since then have helped thousands of customers over the phone and in person feel more confident with their back carries. I know most people struggle with the back carries at one point or another. The Never Fail can assist you in your practice and give you the confidence you need without jeopardizing  your baby's safety. It is possible for a baby to slide out on the bottom if the wrap is not tied correctly.  The Never Fail Backwrap will keep your baby in safely, have the correct leg position, and back support in order for you to enjoy back wearing early on without constantly having to re-check the bottom rail or check yourself in the mirror nor loose any sweat over possibly dropping your baby.

An economically sound choice

Because we know many of you are on tight budgets wanting to purchase only one baby wrap which will be used for many years, this is a great choice as it also allows for the most secure kangaroo carry in the front and an equally secure hip carry on either side of your hips. Nursing in the Never Fail Backwrap has also prove to be a piece of cake, or swig of milk I should say.

The Never Fail Backwrap is exclusively made in the U.S.A. by Walter's Organic according to our design. The sewers are WHAMS (Work at Home Moms).
